I feel like this one could have made it in if the picture didnt pop in the frame right after I submitted it.

The back of all the work looks like this:

(the little check box says NOT ACCEPTED, otherwise known as REJECTED)
So nothing made it into the show.
Next year I will mark my calendar better and make sure I have enough time to properly prepare my work for a gallery showing and I hopefully I'll have a better chance of getting in the show.
You can't win everytime but it does help to prepare early, leaves less time for error. Make sure that when you do document your work either in a gallery space/studio/home that you try and make the document as clear and as specific as possible. Your work may not have made it into the show but they do deserve the respect of good documentation When you respect your work, you respect yourself.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I poorly document my work is due to past problems of people downloading the images and using them as their own. If I post poorly lit images taken with my cell phone I don't have to worry about it.
ReplyDeleteIf you really have a problem with people stealing your work then find a better way to copyright or mark your images. Don't sacrifice your credibility as an artist with poor documentation! Especially if you are a photographer! If you need some suggestions I can point you in the right direction.
